I’m a native of the Pacific Northwest but have been living in San Diego since 1997 and began my real estate career in 2003 working for Greystone Homes in the operations side of new construction. I quickly became interested in new home sales and was licensed with the California Department of Real Estate in 2004 and worked for several large home builders as a sales assistant and marketing coordinator, junior sales agent and a senior sales agent until 2009. As much as I enjoyed new home sales, I felt that I was limited in the geographic areas and product types these companies were building. Making the decision to work for myself in residential resale was the right choice and I quickly found a knack for marketing and selling homes around San Diego county.
The lessons I learned in new home sales have proved beneficial for my re-sale clients. Staging homes, target marketing and outside of the box thinking help my clients sell their homes in markets both good and challenging. In my opinion a prospective buyer makes their decision about a home within the first few minutes of arriving. It’s imperative that homes are shown in the most positive light and I pride myself on helping sellers achieve the optimum setting to highlight a home’s unique characteristics.
Marketing a property and obtaining an offer is often the easy part of a real estate transaction! Determining a buyer’s motives and hot buttons can help immensely in the negotiation process. I never forget who I’m working for or what my goal is; to get my sellers the highest amount of money and the best terms for the escrow process in any given market. During all negotiations I ask myself what I’d do if it were my home or a family members? That always leads to the appropriate answer and I never take for granted the trust a seller instills in me to get their home sold. When problems arise, I help solve them and I have a team of contractors, handymen, professional lenders, title agents and escrow officers to ensure a smooth transaction. This is all just me tooting my horn!
